Understanding locations and server categories

2 min read·Updated September 16, 2026

Use Auto, country locations, and any purpose categories currently displayed by HorizonVPN.

The Locations panel can organize available routes by country, city, region, or a purpose label. The exact groups are delivered by HorizonVPN and can change with plan and server availability.

  • Auto lets HorizonVPN choose an available location and connection method
  • Selecting a country or city asks the app to connect through that location
  • A purpose category is a discovery shortcut, not a guarantee that every outside service will work
  • A locked label means the location is visible but not included in the current access
  • Load or latency shown by the app is a comparison signal and can change after you connect

For normal browsing, start with Auto or a nearby location. For a country-specific task, choose an eligible location in that country and verify the public IP after connecting.
