VPN blocked by firewall — try Stealth, HTTP, or TLS

3 min read·Updated April 20, 2026

Configure HorizonVPN to work through strict firewalls and filtered networks.

Some networks — corporate offices, schools, hotels, and restrictive countries — actively block VPN traffic using filtering or deep packet inspection. HorizonVPN includes protocol modes designed for these conditions.

  1. 1Go to Settings → Protocol
  2. 2Try Auto first, then reconnect
  3. 3If Auto fails, select Stealth and reconnect
  4. 4If the network is still blocking the VPN, try HTTP, HTTP Max, or TLS
  5. 5Use TCP when the network is unstable and UDP-based modes fail

Protocol availability can vary by app version, platform, and server location. If a mode is missing, update the app or contact support with your platform and country.
