Connecting to your first VPN server

Learn how to connect to a VPN server and verify your connection is active.

Once HorizonVPN is installed, connecting to a server takes just one click.

  1. 1Open the HorizonVPN app
  2. 2Click the large Connect button — Quick Connect selects the fastest server automatically
  3. 3Wait for the status to show "Connected" (usually 2–5 seconds)
  4. 4Your IP address now shows the server's location instead of your real IP

Choosing a specific server

  1. 1Click the Server List icon (globe icon in the top bar)
  2. 2Browse by country or use the search bar
  3. 3Click any server to connect — ping times shown next to each server

Verify your VPN is working by visiting whatismyip.com — your IP should match the server's country, not your real location.

If Quick Connect takes longer than 30 seconds, try switching protocols in Settings → Protocol. WireGuard is recommended for most users.
