Find the failing task
Separate a queued message from an attachment that stalls or a call with no sound. This avoids changing a working message connection just because camera or microphone access needs attention.
YOUR CONNECTION, YOUR POSSIBILITIES
Connect the HorizonVPN app on the device running WhatsApp when messages or calls fail on a particular network. Test a message first, then a voice note and a short audio call before turning on video. Each step answers a different connection question.
Features and device limits depend on your plan. Choose the setup that fits your device.
WhatsApp text delivery and live calls are different workloads. A VPN route may help a network problem, but it cannot grant microphone permission, deliver a mobile-network verification SMS or restore a banned account. Test both directions of audio with a willing contact; a ringing screen alone does not establish that a call is usable.

Start with a short voice call on the same route and ask whether both people can hear. Add video only after audio is stable, keeping other large transfers paused during the comparison.
The phone, desktop app and browser can use different connections. Connect HorizonVPN on the device making the call; a desktop browser extension does not control WhatsApp on your phone.
KNOW YOUR SERVICE
WhatsApp’s security guidance distinguishes account verification and recovery from ordinary messaging. Keep access to your registered number and account protection methods when moving between devices or networks.
WhatsApp provides its own security features for conversations. The VPN adds a device-to-VPN network tunnel; it does not change the conversation’s participants, account permissions or the security of a recipient’s device.
WhatsApp provides web and app experiences. Use the task supported by the version you actually run, and do not infer working phone calls from successful messaging in a desktop browser.

Update WhatsApp, confirm internet access and check microphone and camera permissions. Ask a trusted contact to help with a brief call; avoid using urgent communication as the first test.
Connect the app on the same phone or computer. Start with Auto and an available location; if calls fail only on that connection, compare another location or visible compatibility choice.
Send a short message and voice note, then make an audio call. Note whether it rings, connects and carries sound both ways before testing video or a longer conversation.
What to check
| What you notice | What to check |
|---|---|
| Messages work, calls never connect | Compare a second network and another Horizon connection choice. Check the other caller’s connection too. |
| A connected call has no microphone audio | Check microphone permission, mute state and Bluetooth or headset routing before changing locations. |
| The verification code does not arrive | Check the registered number, mobile reception and WhatsApp’s retry instructions. A VPN does not carry ordinary SMS. |
Tell our team the service, device, network and exact error. We can help you find the right connection method without sharing passwords.
Get connection supportText can tolerate delays that interrupt a live conversation. Network filtering, an unstable route, permissions or the other caller’s connection may affect calls independently. Compare a voice note and a short two-way audio call to narrow it down.
No. WhatsApp’s conversation security and the VPN tunnel protect different parts of the journey. Continue using WhatsApp’s account protection tools and verify unexpected contact or account changes even while the VPN is connected.
No. Follow WhatsApp’s review or registration process for those problems. If an account page loads but displays a ban or verification instruction, the remaining issue is account access rather than a failed network route.
No. It covers supported traffic in that browser only. For the phone or desktop app, use HorizonVPN on the same device. Check call support and permissions in the WhatsApp version you use.
No. Calls and media still use the underlying Wi-Fi or mobile connection, with additional tunnel overhead possible. Check your carrier’s allowance and roaming rules before a long call, especially when travelling.
