Pokémon GO VPN: protect the mobile connection

Use HorizonVPN for an encrypted connection on a supported phone while Pokémon GO continues to use your real location and device permissions.

Features and device limits depend on your plan. Choose the setup that fits your device.

The short answer

A VPN changes the network route and public IP associated with supported phone traffic. It does not move your trainer, change GPS or let you catch Pokémon elsewhere. If the game has a connection problem, check the official app, account and location permissions before comparing mobile data, Wi-Fi and a Horizon connection.

Make more of your connection

Separate two kinds of location

Treat network location and GPS as different signals. You can assess a phone’s connection privacy without changing its actual position or confusing the game’s location-dependent features.

Find the failing mobile step

Check whether the problem appears at account sign-in, map loading or an action in the game. This gives support a clear symptom instead of a general report that the internet works.

Use the supported phone app

Connect Horizon’s native phone app when you need device traffic routed. A desktop browser extension cannot carry the Pokémon GO app’s connection on a separate phone.

GPS stays with the device

Pokémon GO’s real-world play depends on location signals and permissions. The VPN exit is a network endpoint, not a replacement for the phone’s GPS measurement.

Publisher rules cover location manipulation

Official Pokémon GO guidance treats falsifying location and unauthorized software as violations. A connection privacy tool should not be used as a promise of remote catching or protection from enforcement.

Emulators have separate restrictions

The publisher includes emulators among prohibited methods in its terms-violation guidance. Reaching a login page through an emulator does not establish a permitted Pokémon GO setup.

Get connected, step by step

  1. Check the phone before the route

Update the official Pokémon GO app, confirm supported device conditions and review location and network permissions. Note the exact error and make sure ordinary mobile connectivity works.

  2. Compare without moving location

Stay in the same real place and try the same permitted action on Wi-Fi or mobile data. If testing Horizon, connect its native app before reopening Pokémon GO and keep other settings unchanged.

  3. Keep the clearest result

If only the Horizon route fails, disconnect and repeat the comparison. Change one available location or compatibility option at a time, then report the phone model, OS, app version and results.

What to check

What you noticeWhat to check
The map reports a GPS problemCheck location permission and the phone’s actual GPS reception. Changing a VPN endpoint will not repair missing satellite or operating-system location information.
Websites work but the game cannot sign inRecord the login method and error. Check app/account service conditions and compare the game itself on another ordinary connection.

Your questions, answered

Does a VPN move my trainer to another country?

No. Horizon changes a network path, not your phone’s GPS. Pokémon GO uses location-related information separately. Play at your actual location and use official game features for the activities available to you.

Can Horizon replace location permissions?

No. If Pokémon GO lacks required location access or cannot obtain a reliable position, review the phone’s permissions and reception. A different public IP does not supply the missing device location.

Can I use it for remote catching?

Horizon is not a GPS-spoofing tool and this guide does not provide remote-catching instructions. Pokémon GO’s publisher prohibits falsifying location and unauthorized software. Use the official app and follow its play and account rules.

Will a VPN stop my account being penalized?

No. Enforcement is controlled by the publisher and depends on account activity and its rules. For a warning or restriction, use official support. Connecting through another location does not cancel a penalty.

When is a network comparison useful?

When the official app has a reproducible login or connection error. Keep the phone, real location and action the same, then compare normal access with Horizon. Record whether each attempt reaches login, map loading and play.
