League of Legends: account region and route help

Understand how HorizonVPN changes a device’s route to your existing League of Legends server, while Riot manages account regions and transfer eligibility.

Features and device limits depend on your plan. Choose the setup that fits your device.

The short answer

Begin with Riot’s normal connection troubleshooting and a VPN-off baseline. Riot recommends using a VPN for route testing only in specific cases advised by its technical specialists. If such a comparison is appropriate, Horizon can provide a supported device route to test without changing your League account’s server or transferring its progress.

Make more of your connection

Keep the account’s server clear

Confirm the existing account server and the product you play before testing. Desktop League, Wild Rift and TFT are distinct contexts; a result in one does not establish another’s compatibility.

Use the ordinary route as a baseline

Check service status, local Wi-Fi or wired connectivity and background traffic first. This helps distinguish a Riot issue, a local problem and a route comparison that may be worth discussing with support.

Make advised tests useful

If Riot’s specialists recommend comparing a VPN route, hold the game server and network steady. Record reconnection messages and in-game delay instead of changing account region at the same time.

Account transfer is a Riot operation

Riot’s transfer process has eligible destinations, effects and timing conditions. Selecting a Horizon country cannot transfer an existing League account or its progress into that server.

TFT transfer has a client requirement

Riot’s transfer FAQ directs TFT Mobile players to use the PC/Mac client for account transfer. A mobile network location does not substitute for that official account process.

Riot cautions against routine VPN use

Riot’s connection guidance says proxies and VPNs can cause issues and reserves VPN route testing for specific specialist-advised cases. Disconnecting Horizon is therefore an essential troubleshooting comparison.

Get connected, step by step

  1. Check product, shard and service

Record desktop League, Wild Rift or TFT, device, account server and exact error. Follow the matching Riot service-status and connection guidance, with the VPN disconnected for the baseline.

  2. Compare a route when appropriate

If Riot recommends a route test, connect the supported native Horizon app before the game. Keep the same account server and ordinary network; do not use a country change as a transfer method.

  3. Return evidence to the right support team

Compare login, reconnection messages and a permitted session. Include time, provider and selected Horizon location in the report. If the VPN adds problems, disconnect and continue Riot’s recommended troubleshooting.

What you noticeWhat to check
Friends are on another account serverReview Riot’s current transfer options and their effects. A different VPN exit does not put the existing account on their server.
The game repeatedly attempts to reconnectCheck Riot status and the normal route first. Follow Riot’s connection guidance and provide the exact message and session time.
Ping worsens with HorizonDisconnect for comparison, check local interference/background traffic and retain the same game server. Discuss any further route test with Riot’s technical support.

Your questions, answered

Will Horizon transfer my League account?

No. Riot controls server transfers, eligibility and their effects on account content. Read the live official transfer FAQ before taking action. A new public IP changes the route, not the server to which your existing account belongs.

Should I routinely use a VPN for League?

Follow Riot’s guidance: it cautions against VPN/proxy connections and recommends VPN route tests only in specific cases advised by technical specialists. Start with the normal connection and use a comparison when that support process calls for it.

Can I join friends on another server just by changing location?

No. Account-server and party requirements remain. Check whether Riot offers an eligible transfer for your account and understand what changes. A VPN cannot merge progress, move an account or supply access to an unavailable shard.

Is TFT Mobile transfer handled in the phone app?

Riot’s transfer FAQ says TFT Mobile players need the PC/Mac client for the transfer process. Use the current official instructions and confirm account effects before proceeding; changing the phone’s VPN location is not a transfer.

Does this also prove Wild Rift compatibility?

No. Wild Rift is a separate product with its own platforms, account context and network behavior. Identify the exact title in your support request and test it separately. Desktop League login does not prove a mobile game session works.
